Built before 1903, this building has been both a restaurant and a private residence. It is most notable for its architectural style. Called the shotgun house, it is representative of narrow residences that have no hallways, only rooms connected with doorways in the same location throughout the house. These residences are called shotgun houses, because it is said that you could stand in the front doorway and shoot a gun through the house and not hit anything due to the aligned doorways. There are many shotgun houses located in this neighborhood, dating from the early 1900s and used as railroad housing.
