Midtown Café doesn’t just offer amazing food, smoothies, and coffee. They also welcome you in with kindness like it’s their home, give great customer service, and provide warm, tasty made from made-from-scratch meals. You not only feel like one of the family while you’re there, but you can relax and enjoy the food and company in front of you because of the environment. Miguel and Olivia Bringas have owned and operated Midtown Café for the last 14 years and don’t have any plans to change that. When speaking with their daughter, Priscilla who also works at Midtown, she said her grandma was in the kitchen at the time of the conversation. That’s at least three generations working together for the same purpose – serving Sheridan amazing food. Priscilla stated that all of the ingredients at Midtown Café are fresh and they grow the majority of the fresh vegetables and even some fruits in their large garden! She said, “We grow a lot of the produce ourselves like tomatoes, limes, zucchini, cilantro, pumpkins, onions, and more!” You can’t get any more home-grown-fresh than that at a restaurant. From the outside, you see BMO Financial (Bank of the West until late this summer) and D.A. Davidson. Still, the building is the home to a wide range of businesses from financial services to a dental office and multiple businesses in between. With construction being extended an additional block this year, it’s important to shed some light on the parking options for this corner block of businesses and the ways to get to where you need to go during construction. It’s recommended that patrons access the businesses by using the front entrance with open sidewalks, or take advantage of the parking garage in the back off of Brooks Street and enter through the back entrance. Businesses you can find in the block are BMO Financial, D.A. SPOTLIGHT | THE CHOCOLATE TREE
The Chocolate Tree has been in Sheridan since 1994 and operating downtown at the current location for the last 16 years. In speaking with owner, Judy Bishop, you get the idea that she was made for this business. Judy lit up like a Christmas tree while she talked about all of the services and products they offer at The Chocolate Tree. She gleefully put together a gift basket while conversing and the number of treats and care placed in the basket was inspiring and really fun to watch. “The great thing about The Chocolate Tree is that it’s a one-stop shop, whether you want an afternoon pick me up or a thoughtful gift, we have you covered!” Judy said of the store. She added, “Everything we do is to make people happy.” And she’s right, you can’t go into The Chocolate Tree without finding something that puts a smile on your face. Judy noted that they ship all over the country and love to see visitors stop in to pick up treats to take with them or ship them back home. The recently expanded kid’s candy section is impressive and features, as Judy put it, “Trending TikTok-inspired candy! Babe’s Flowers is owned by Heidi Parker, a 3rd generation owner of the flower shop. The shop was originally opened by Babe Noonan! Babe opened the iconic business in downtown Sheridan in 1966 and the shop has not only stayed in the family since the 60s, but Babe’s Flowers has always been downtown. Heidi spoke lovingly of the flower shop, “We have the freshest flowers of the highest quality.
