The weekend is just around the corner, and it's time to unwind and have some fun! Whether you're looking for family-friendly activities, a night out with friends, or some solo adventure, we've got you covered. Here’s what's happening downtown this weekend: Friday Evening: Head over to First Congregational Church UCC- Sheridan WY for their 6th year of free community concerts. Grab a program and sit anywhere you like! Performing tonight are Hayley Curtis (vocal and instrumental), Bill Sustrich, and Ed & Christa Grywusiewicz (country western). The performers donate their time and talent, and the church provides the beautiful 1911 historic setting. Donations go towards Sheridan College Music Scholarships. Saturday Noon: It's Family Movie Day at the Sheridan County Library System! Head over and enjoy some family time. The movie starts at noon. This week's film features a family that welcomes a delightful young mouse into their home, but their cat is determined to get rid of him. Saturday Afternoon: Immerse yourself at Black Tooth Brewing - Sheridan. Verdello will be hosting a beer and cheese pairing class from 5-7 p.m. in the brewing room. Brandon Anderson will take the Black Tooth stage for the first time. Brandon is a country rock singer/songwriter and performer. He was a 2023 Wyoming Singer-Songwriter’s Competition qualifier in Story, and his original song “Better Man” was voted judge’s favorite. SPOTLIGHT | MORRIS MUSIC STORE & STUDIO
On March 2nd, 1998, Morris Music Store & Studio opened its doors, marking a new era for music lovers in the Sheridan area. Shelly Morris, the heart and soul behind this venture, grew up in Worland and pursued her goal in becoming a music teacher. Shelly taught for five years in rural towns in South Dakota and Montana, including an unforgettable experience in Kadoka, SD, where she taught K-12 music and traveled to one-room schoolhouses, and led a marching band of 70 kids in Colorado. She came to the realization that teaching wasn’t her desired path, shifting her focus towards a music store and teaching private lessons. Employment at Haggerty’s Musicworks in Gillette spurred Shelly’s vision for a music store in Sheridan. During her travels across the state, she discerned Sheridan’s absence of a music store, a void she was determined to fill. Armed with meticulous planning, a year of comprehensive research, and compelling presentations, she successfully convinced the bank that Sheridan needed Morris Music. Today, Morris Music offers a wide range of instruments, accessories, expert repairs, special orders, and rent-to-own options for strings and band instruments. Thank you to the Sheridan community for coming downtown for the first 3rd Thursday Street Festival of the season! The weather is going to be splendid this weekend, so come downtown, enjoy some coffee and indulge in some retail therapy . Kick off your Friday evening by heading over to Luminous Brewhouse for a night of music featuring The Two Tracks, Kellen Smith, andThe Nate Champion Band! Their goal is to raise money for Shawn, Anastasia, and their daughter Fifi, who was recently life-flighted to Denver. Please help support them so they can focus on Fifi’s recovery! There is a $20 suggested donation at the door. Luminous Brewhouse will donate $2 from every pint of “Spare Change” sold. There will also be a silent auction with many great items! Doors open at 4 PM, music starts at 5 PM. Also, stop by The Mint Bar for a Beach Party Fundraiser for Fifi. Anastasia was scheduled to DJ the beach party, but the event has turned into a fundraiser. All money from the $10 door charge, silent auction, and tips will be donated. The event starts at 6:00 PM. On Saturday evening, stop by Black Tooth Brewing - Sheridan and listen to Olivia Harms take the stage at 7:00 PM. She is a country western singer/songwriter.
