SPOTLIGHT | ON THE ROCKS JEWELRY
When you walk into On The Rocks there are about a million reasons why you might feel great being there. It’s the smiling faces greeting you as you walk in, it’s the modern displays, the bold black interior complimented by the crisp lighting, it’s the whole package, really. The amount of vibrancy and sparkle in the jewelry cases is impressive and it matches the personalities of the business. On The Rocks isn’t your traditional jewelry store and Darin and Marisa Olson are not new to being downtown Sheridan business owners or to the jewelry, gem, and rocks game. On The Rocks opened in 2010 on 1st Street and relocated to Main Street three years ago, Darin and Marisa love being in downtown Sheridan. Darin works on the jeweler side of things by doing sizing, setting, and maintenance in-house. Marisa is a certified gemologist and a genuine lover of beautiful and unique things. On The Rocks was created to cater to customers looking for jewelry that is something more unique and less “out of the box.” Tess Lannan, a sales associate at On The Rocks, said of the store, “We carry funky options that break away from the average look and feel of basic jewelry.” Tess has been at On The Rocks since 2012 and has a passion for rocks and gemstones. Tess loves helping customers create custom pieces and specializes in helping people design the perfect piece of jewelry. “You get to know customers when you create custom pieces around [...]
SPOTLIGHT | HIGH MOUNTAIN MERCANTILE
High Mountain Mercantile is family-owned and operated and known as a one-stop shop for anything and everything for visitors and locals looking for some Wyoming flare! Want a stuffed jackalope? What about Wyoming-branded hats, shirts, and home goods? Searching for custom felt hat shaping? Look no further than High Mountain Mercantile! Sherry and Denny Wagoner opened High Mountain on Main Street 17 years ago and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. High Mountain Mercantile is open seven days a week (yes that means Sundays) to make sure you can get what you want when you need it. Going back to the hat shaping, Denny can shape open crown and flat brim hats, even straw hats! High Mountain Mercantile offers a lot of options in sizes and colors to choose from. Sherry said of the hat side of the business, “A lot of repeat business is hat shaping.” Denny showed the difference between a custom-fitted hat vs. a hat off the shelf (pictured in the graphic) and man, he does a great job! Sherry stated that they focus on carrying products made in America at High Mountain Mercantile. All of the jewelry and candles are made in America and they now carry Duke Cannon soaps, which a portion of the sales go to supporting U.S. Veterans. If you are in the market for something fun, the store has sizes ranging from infant to adult and has a little bit of everything including gift items and souvenirs. Sherry pointed out, “We carry [...]
SPOTLIGHT | WYLD ‘N PRETTY
Rockie Sadler opened Wyld ‘n Pretty in downtown Sheridan in 2021 and in February of 2023 relocated to Brundage Street right off of Main Street between Foot of the Bighorns and SAGE Community Arts. The store is soft, pretty, and Western chic with a hint of sparkle. Rockie is a creative woman and her style combined with current trends and some Western finesse make Wyld ‘n Pretty a must-stop shop in downtown. While working in the corporate world Rockie had the realization that she wanted to pursue Wyld ‘n Pretty and create full-time. She would create longhorn and bison skull art, selling a few pieces on Facebook, and began doing travel vendor shows for a few years to sell her skull art. What started as a hobby in the basement of her apartment, soon bloomed into Wyld ‘n Pretty. Rockie doesn’t stick to skull art, she designs too. The majority of the t-shirt designs are original to Wyld ‘n Pretty, they don’t wholesale their designs and they’re all hand-drawn by Rockie. Rockie stated that “We pride ourselves in offering things different than other places on Main Street. Diversifying what you offer is a constant treasure hunt for good finds! We have a big variety to shop too, boots, a custom hat bar, a flower bar, modern style bibles, and home goods.” Rockie said that she likes to carry items that make people feel good. Wyld ‘n Pretty is merchandised with colorful patterns, palettes, and fun items to brighten your day. [...]
