Best Out West Antiques is its own fantastic journey through time and space. Owned by Christy Love, Best Out West has been on Main Street since the early 1990s and has become a treasure hunter’s delight! There are roughly 16000 square feet of shoppable space that are merchandised floor to ceiling with volumes of collectibles, antiques, treasures, and beyond. Best Out West has become a destination for visitors and of course the locals. We all know that Sheridan loves their antiques and hunting for gorgeous sand sometimes rare finds.
Best Out West Antiques manager, Darla Judes started out as a vendor at the store and has been managing it for over 20 years. Did you know there are over 260 vendors who sell their goods at Best Out West? The items for sale don’t just come from Wyoming, vendors are from all over including Wyoming, Colorado, North Carolina, and even South Africa. A person should plan to spend a good amount of time meandering through the collection of items at Best Out West, they have everything under the sun from antiques and collectibles to locally made items. Darla mentioned that patrons stop in to peruse and enjoy the whole experience and they spend time taking it all in. “People come in to talk and reminisce, they like to tell their stories and connect with us about specific items they find. They are looking for nostalgic items from childhood or things that remind them of their grandparents,” Darla said of the patrons. “Shoppers are commonly looking for souvenirs and postcards, books on fascinating local history, tools, and general household decor and furniture. It’s common to see local decorators looking for items to decorate their properties.”
“People are consistently referred to Best Out West to find specific or rare items they’re looking for, things that you normally can’t find. People come here to find special things, collectors come here for all kinds of things, it’s like walking back in time,” Darla added. The number of unique items that Best Out West has to offer is staggering and if you haven’t spent time in the lower level, you are in for a treat because the store just keeps going! With so many items and so many nooks and crannies to shop, make sure you grab a coffee and take a friend because you’re in for an afternoon of treasure hunting fun!
